Construction is now underway on the $4.5 million Southern Cross Regional Athletics Facility in East Lismore, marking a significant investment in sporting infrastructure for the Northern Rivers and reinforcing Lismore's position as a regional destination for sport, education and community events.

The facility, located within the Southern Cross University precinct, will provide the region with its first dedicated world-class athletics venue. Funded through a combination of State Government and Southern Cross University investment, the project will deliver a flood-resilient sporting asset designed to support athletes, schools, clubs and the broader community for years to come.

Once complete, the development will include an eight-lane synthetic track built to World Athletics standards, along with long jump facilities, throwing event areas, steeplechase infrastructure, seating, lighting, amenities, shade structures and upgraded drainage systems
