Condong Public School, NSW
Ceremony Kicks Off Flood-Resilient Rebuild
Pembridge is excited to share the milestone sod turn ceremony for Condong Public School, marking the official start of construction on the new, flood-resilient school. The event brought together students, staff, families, and key community leaders to celebrate a new chapter for the Condong community after the challenges of the 2022 floods.
Community Leaders Join the Celebration
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Cr Meredith Dennis OAM and local Member of Parliament Janelle Saffin, who joined school leaders and students in turning the first sod. Their presence highlighted the strong support from both the local government and the NSW Parliament for rebuilding vital education infrastructure in the Northern Rivers.
Preserving Heritage, Building for the Future
The new Condong Public School will feature elevated, modular buildings designed to withstand future flood events, along with modern classrooms, a new library, canteen, and administration areas. Important community heritage items, including the Great War Honour Roll, painted murals, and plaques, will be preserved and integrated into the new school.
Relieving Principal Debbie Francis reflected on the significance of the day, expressing excitement for the renewed sense of stability and progress the project brings to the school community.
Looking Ahead
Construction is now underway, with students expected to return to their new, permanent facilities later this year. Pembridge is proud to support School Infrastructure NSW and the Condong community in delivering a safe, inspiring, and resilient learning environment for generations to come.
